goings on

Thu Jul 16, 2009, 2:24 AM
I finally have my website up and running.

[link]

I also had some business cards printed and should have them soon.

Last week I had the pleasure to shoot the Beloit Riverfest. It was a good experience and I felt as though I got some great shots of the many bands that performed. The main stage acts were The Grass Roots, Survivor, Trapt, The Guess Who, and The Beach Boys. There was also a battle of the bands as well as various events going on. I have over 17 gigs of images from those five days. I will be selecting various shots from each of the days and putting them up. All the images can be viewed on my flickr [[link] or in my mobileme gallery [[link] You will also see some pictures from a wedding I shot a little bit back. I still need to go through and finish them all and send them off to the couple.

As always I am always looking for bands or models that would like shoots. Just drop me a note or email and let me know.

New bio

Mon Jun 22, 2009, 12:51 AM
I began back in the summer of 2005, when I purchased my first camera. It was a Nikon Coolpix 5900, I still believe that some of my best pictures were taken with this camera. While in high school I took the photography class that was offered. It was here the I began to learn the basics and technical side of taking pictures. I am glade I started with such a simple camera because I was able to think more of what I was taking a picture of then how to take the picture. This even extends through today. I do not use manual mode too much because I want to think more of my subject than the settings and I do not want to miss a shot because I had the wrong setting.

After a year or so I became more interested in photography as a hobby. I read everything I could find online and studied pictures. I spent a few months researching cameras to upgrade to. I settled on a Nikon D50. I was able to find a used one through Craig's List for a fair price. I've added on lenses since. I still use my father's old Konica film camera time to time.

When I started out I avoided taking pictures of people and now I can barely take a picture without having someone in it. People just add a new level to the image. I have also began working with multiple off-camera flashes. I try to make light a very important part of my images. I either take advantage of the available light or I create my own. Light is my life.

I usually have my friends model or friends of friends'. I am always looking for anyone that would like to shoot. If you are interested please send me a message and we can set something up. Besides shooting to pass time I have shot a wedding, head-shots, and senior portraits. People are often surprised when they find out that I am not a photography major but rather a Theatre Design and Production: BFA. I enjoy photography too much to make it a career.

I have had work featured through Visit Beloit, Pleasant Street Coffee House, Beloit Public Library, and Beloit Art Walk 2009.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i would also like to direct everyone's attention to a few other people galleries

my good friend memo's - [link] - you will see him in quite a few of my pictures because he shoots with me often. everyone should buy some prints from him so he can buy his own camera in stead of always borrowing mine.

another's you should check out is memo's other and david's - [link] - although memo has now started his own, david still uses it but he hardly shoots anymore. leave him in encouraging comments and messages.

my friend allison - [link] - you will find a few photos of her in my gallery from the one day we went shooting. shes not only a good photographer but an amazing artist.

my friend sam - [link] - shes finally starting to shoot again so make sure you check her stuff out

my friend brad - [link] - you will find many pictures of him in my gallery. hes not too serious about photography but has some decent pictures

About Me

Sat Feb 2, 2008, 11:03 PM
I started our 3 years ago when I saved up some money and bought a Nikon Coolpix 5900 point and shoot. The majority of my photos have all been taken with it. I first started posting my photos on deviantart and a few months ago i joined flickr. I love the photos on deviant but the people and discussions seem better here. I am currently saving for a D50 and a few extra things for it. I have not had much chance to put any new images up for a few weeks becasue my computer is broke, my ps zoom is broke, and I never have money to develope film.

i try to make the lighting a large part of my images as thats what i plan to do with my life. i will be going to uwm with a major in theatre production and design. i dont consider myself an artist or that artistic i just take a picture of what someone else has created and make it my own.

thanks to all those who view, comment and add my photos as favorites.
